BMW has officially confirmed that the second-generation X7 flagship SUV, internally codenamed G67, will enter production in September 2027 at its Spartanburg plant in the United States and will debut with a fully electric variant for the first time. The new model retains the current generation’s controversial front-end design, featuring split headlights and a large grille, while incorporating select elements from BMW’s “Neue Klasse” (New Class) design language. Powertrain options will continue to include inline-six, V8, and diesel engines (in select markets), though a plug-in hybrid version is unlikely. A high-performance M Performance variant is under development, but a full-fledged X7 M will remain absent. The new X7 will feature more premium appointments, likely standardizing amenities such as fully automatic doors, soft-close doors, rear massage and ventilated seats, and a dedicated rear-seat entertainment system. Additionally, BMW’s ALPINA sub-brand is expected to launch an even more luxurious G69 variant—positioned to rival the Mercedes-Maybach GLS—with a market launch anticipated after 2028.
