Recently, the commercialization of Robotaxis has significantly accelerated. On March 12, Lucid unveiled its Lunar autonomous taxi concept vehicle, designed to compete with Tesla’s Cybercab, and announced plans to boost production volume using a mid-size platform while partnering with Uber to advance its Robotaxi business. The following day, Uber and Motional launched a commercial Robotaxi service along the Las Vegas Strip. Additionally, Uber has teamed up with Zoox, Nissan, and Wayve: Zoox’s purpose-built Robotaxi will join Uber’s platform this summer and expand to Los Angeles by mid-2027; meanwhile, Nissan and Wayve aim to launch a pilot program in Tokyo by the end of 2026. With clear timelines now established across the industry, Robotaxi commercialization is entering a phase of full-scale acceleration.
