In the face of a growing trend among some automakers to add internal combustion engine (ICE) or plug-in hybrid variants to their all-electric models, Bentley remains resolute. CEO Frank-Steffen Walliser recently confirmed that the brand’s first all-electric “urban SUV,” set to debut by the end of this year, will be offered exclusively as a battery-electric vehicle—without any ICE, range-extender, or plug-in hybrid versions. He emphasized that the vehicle is specifically designed to attract a new customer base and is not engineered to accommodate combustion powertrains in the future. Built on Volkswagen Group’s dedicated PPE electric platform—the same architecture underpinning the Audi Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan Electric—the new SUV is currently undergoing testing as scheduled. Walliser also revealed that the vehicle boasts impressive charging capabilities, adding approximately 100 miles of range in just seven minutes. Further details will be unveiled at its official launch later this year.
