Buick has not offered a sedan in the U.S. market since discontinuing the Regal in 2020. According to recent reports, General Motors is now considering bringing Buick back into the sedan segment. Sources told GM Authority that GM is developing multiple sedan variants based on the next-generation Alpha 2 platform, one of which could be branded as a Buick. The platform will support internal combustion engines and may also incorporate hybrid technology. With the Cadillac CT4 being phased out, production capacity at the Grand River Assembly plant in Lansing, Michigan, could be repurposed for the new Buick sedan. Currently, Buick continues to sell several sedans in China, including the LaCrosse and Verano Pro. Although Buick in the U.S. has focused exclusively on SUVs and crossovers, a return to sedans could offer consumers a fresh option.
