Despite the current weak demand for all-electric sports cars, BMW has stated it hasn't ruled out launching a dedicated electric two-door coupe. At the launch event for the new i3, BMW product chief Bernd Körber said an electric sports car "makes sense within our brand lineup." While he didn't confirm any production plans, he emphasized that the company continues to explore possibilities for high-performance electric models. BMW has already outlined plans to develop electric versions of the M3 and M4 based on its Neue Klasse platform, potentially featuring four motors and delivering up to 700 horsepower. Additionally, BMW showcased a Neue Klasse two-door coupe prototype in 2024; although there are no immediate plans for production, its 800V architecture could theoretically support up to 1,341 horsepower. With Audi and Porsche advancing their own all-electric coupe projects, BMW's potential entry into this segment would hardly be surprising.
