On March 20, Xiaomi Auto responded to public concerns by providing a detailed explanation of the safety design features of its new SU7 model in a 60 km/h head-on collision test between two vehicles. While based on C-NCAP standard test conditions, this evaluation increased the speed of both vehicles by 20%, resulting in collision energy 1.44 times higher than the standard—simulating a more severe frontal crash scenario typical of urban arterial roads. During the test, the SU7’s A-, B-, and C-pillars remained structurally intact. Airbags deployed as designed, and pretensioner seatbelts activated normally. The battery pack showed no abnormalities. Immediately after impact, the vehicle automatically lowered all windows, activated hazard lights, unlocked all doors, and connected to a live customer service representative via its emergency call system. Even when the 12V power supply was manually disconnected, occupants could still open the doors using triple-redundant door handles. Injury metrics recorded by crash test dummies remained within established occupant protection limits, confirming the reliability of the SU7’s high-strength body structure and comprehensive safety systems.
