As of mid-March 2026, General Motors (GM) has issued eight recalls affecting 80,005 vehicles—second only to Ford in terms of recall frequency among automakers. However, GM’s total recall volume remains far below Ford’s 7.4 million vehicles. This year, GM’s largest single recall involved 43,743 vehicles, while its smallest affected just 20. Among the recalled models, the oldest are the 2012–2013 Buick Regal sedans, recalled due to missing electrophoretic coating on the rear wheel alignment link rods. Another recall covered multiple models—including the 2025 Colorado and 2027 Bolt—due to missing owner’s manuals, impacting 5,482 vehicles. Although GM set a record in 2014 with 77 recalls in a single year, it is nowhere near approaching Ford’s 2025 record of 153 recalls.
