As of the end of February 2026, China had a total of 21.01 million electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure units nationwide, an increase of 47.8% year-on-year. This includes 4.834 million public charging piles, up 28.8% year-on-year, with a total power capacity of 229 million kilowatts, and 16.176 million private charging piles, up 54.6% year-on-year, with an installed electrical capacity of 141 million kVA. China has now built the world's largest EV charging network, capable of meeting the charging needs of over 40 million new energy vehicles. The National Energy Administration is currently advancing its "Three-Year Doubling" initiative, aiming to deploy 28 million charging facilities by the end of 2027, which is expected to drive investments exceeding RMB 200 billion.
