A viral TikTok from mechanic Rysk1 (@lovemypsilo) is warning drivers that buying car parts on Amazon to save money can backfire—leading to bigger repair bills down the line. The video, viewed over 209,000 times, bluntly states: “Them Amazon parts be killing y’all cars.” While quality parts do exist on Amazon, many are from unfamiliar brands with minimal reviews or warranties. Mechanics report frequent issues like poor fitment, premature failure, and complications over who’s liable when something goes wrong. As a result, many shops now refuse to install customer-supplied parts or offer no warranty on the work. Experts stress that while online deals seem smart upfront, inconsistent quality and hidden costs often make them “penny wise, pound foolish.”
