Subaru’s newly established "Sports Vehicle Planning Office" has recently unveiled a rally-spec BRZ developed specifically for competition in the All-Japan Rally Championship (AJRC). Based on the current-generation BRZ, the rally car features extensive upgrades: it is equipped with a turbocharged engine, an all-wheel-drive system, significantly increased ground clearance, long-travel suspension, and off-road-style tires. Official teaser images reveal bold, boxy wheel arches, a large rear wing, a roof-mounted air intake, vertical hood vents, and a redesigned front bumper, giving the car a rugged overall appearance. Although the wheelbase remains unchanged, both front and rear overhangs have been shortened, and the taillights have been restyled. Subaru emphasized that this vehicle is strictly for racing purposes and there are no current plans for mass production. However, the new division aims to foster collaboration between motorsport and road-car engineering teams, potentially influencing future street-legal models indirectly. The rally-spec BRZ is expected to make its official debut during the first half of this season’s AJRC.
