The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the Ministry of Finance, and the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) recently jointly issued a notice launching a pilot program for integrated hydrogen applications. Under a "challenge-based" ("Jiebang Guashuai") mechanism, the program will select city clusters with solid industrial foundations, diverse application scenarios, reliable hydrogen supply, and complete industrial chains to carry out pioneering trials. The pilot aims to overcome current technological bottlenecks hindering hydrogen industry development, expand hydrogen applications beyond fuel cell vehicles into broader sectors such as transportation and industry, and enhance the capacity for clean, low-carbon hydrogen supply. The policy seeks to establish replicable commercial application models, build an efficient integrated hydrogen application system, promote coordinated development across the entire "production-storage-transportation-utilization" value chain, improve the industrial policy environment, and foster a high-quality hydrogen industry ecosystem. According to a research report by CITIC Securities, this initiative will effectively address critical constraints in the industry and accelerate the large-scale deployment of hydrogen applications.
