Hyundai has announced a recall of 46,787 units of the 2026 Palisade SUV, affecting the high-end Limited and Calligraphy trims, due to an excessively short internal wiring harness in the left-side third-row seat belt. When passengers pull on the seat belt buckle, the wiring harness could become damaged, causing the seat belt to appear latched when it is not properly secured—a condition that poses a safety risk. Hyundai decided this month to initiate the recall and will address the issue by replacing the wiring harness with one extended by 4.3 inches or, if necessary, replacing the entire buckle assembly. The company has received five related reports to date but has recorded no accidents, injuries, or fires linked to this defect. This recall is separate from another announced last week involving 61,093 vehicles, which stemmed from a malfunction in the power seat system’s inability to detect obstacles. That earlier issue has already resulted in the death of one child and multiple injuries, and a permanent fix is still under development.
