Recently, despite announcements from multiple battery manufacturers and automakers regarding progress in all-solid-state battery development—such as EVE Energy’s "Longquan No. 4" rolling off the production line and Chery unveiling a prototype with an energy density of 600 Wh/kg—Academician Ouyang Minggao of the Chinese Academy of Sciences cautioned at the 2026 Auto Hundred Experts-Media Forum that the industrialization of all-solid-state batteries remains in its early stages. He noted that even if vehicle integration trials begin in 2027, achieving a 1% market share would still take another 5 to 10 years. Current electric vehicle technology already meets everyday driving needs, and consumers need not wait obsessively for all-solid-state batteries. Significant challenges remain, including manufacturing processes, material costs, and vehicle integration. Large-scale commercialization will require comprehensive maturity across the entire supply chain, and the market should maintain realistic expectations.
