Kia recently announced plans to launch 13 new all-electric vehicle (EV) models globally by 2030, aiming to address slowing industry demand and accelerate its transition toward zero emissions. At the company’s annual shareholders’ meeting, CEO Ho Sung Song stated that this move is designed to meet diverse customer needs, enhance product competitiveness, and strengthen Kia’s leadership in the EV sector. To better serve key markets, Kia will expand its EV production capacity beyond its primary base in Korea to regions including Europe, China, and North America, while also accelerating the deployment of local charging infrastructure. The automaker’s electrification strategy is built on its modular EV platform, PBV. The first model based on this platform, the PV5, has already been unveiled, with the larger PV7 slated for 2027 and the PV9 expected in 2029. Additionally, Kia has introduced the EV2, a compact all-electric SUV specifically developed for the European market. The EV2 offers two battery options and advanced driver-assistance features, positioning it as a practical family-oriented vehicle.
