Volkswagen has officially unveiled the all-new 2027 Atlas, a mid-to-large-size SUV that serves as the successor to the brand’s best-selling model in the U.S. market. Built on an upgraded MQB platform, the new Atlas closely resembles the China-market Teramont Pro in exterior design but retains physical door handles and introduces three new exterior colors: Sacramento Green, Blackberry, and Sandstone. The interior has been completely redesigned, featuring a standard 12.9-inch center touchscreen, with a 15-inch display available as an option on higher trims. While it retains Volkswagen’s controversial touch-sensitive slider controls, the new model adds multifunctional physical knobs for adjusting volume, drive modes, and ambient lighting. Higher trims come equipped with Nappa leather seats, genuine wood trim, and LED ambient lighting. All three rows feature USB-C ports, and the front seats offer heating, ventilation, and massage functions. Under the hood, the Atlas is powered by a retuned 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 282 horsepower, paired with either front-wheel drive or Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system. The vehicle is expected to go on sale this fall, with a starting price of approximately $45,000 and a top-trim price approaching $55,000.
