Tesla has officially announced the discontinuation of its Model S and Model X vehicles, effective immediately halting new custom orders. Customers can now only purchase from existing inventory. As Tesla’s early flagship models—Model S launched in 2012 and Model X introduced in 2015—they once led the premium electric vehicle market with features like long range and falcon-wing doors. However, their sales have steadily declined in recent years, with combined deliveries in 2025 accounting for less than 4% of Tesla’s global total. To optimize production capacity, Tesla will convert the former Model S/X assembly lines at its Fremont, California factory to produce its Optimus humanoid robots, targeting an annual产能 of one million units. The company stated that this move represents a strategic shift, emphasizing that both models have fulfilled their historical roles and are now formally exiting mass production.
