Tesla released its production and delivery figures for the first quarter of 2026 on April 2. The data shows that the company produced a total of 408,386 electric vehicles globally and delivered 358,023 units. Model 3 and Model Y accounted for the vast majority of sales, with 394,611 units produced and 341,893 delivered. Other models—including Model S, Model X, and Cybertruck—saw production of 13,775 units and deliveries of 16,130 units. In terms of delivery structure, operating leases accounted for 1% of total deliveries, with Model 3/Y and other models contributing 1% and 2%, respectively. Additionally, Tesla disclosed that its energy storage products achieved an installation volume of 8.8 gigawatt-hours (GWh) this quarter, continuing steady growth in its energy business. Notably, on the same day, the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) released preliminary data indicating that wholesale sales of new energy passenger vehicles by manufacturers nationwide reached an estimated 1.12 million units in March 2026—up sharply by 55% month-over-month and roughly flat year-over-year. BYD, Geely, and Tesla China ranked as the top three manufacturers. Prior to the release, market expectations for Tesla’s Q1 2026 deliveries were around 366,000 units, slightly higher than the actual figure reported.
