Recently, an owner of a Li Auto vehicle posted a video claiming that their new car experienced abnormal braking while driving in an underground parking garage. The video shows the vehicle reaching a speed of 33 km/h and failing to decelerate effectively over approximately six seconds, ultimately colliding with a wall at around 10 km/h. The owner questioned whether the vehicle suffered from "brake failure." Analysis revealed that the incident occurred in a garage with an epoxy-coated floor—a smooth, non-absorbent surface. When wet, this type of flooring can easily form a water film between the tires and the ground, significantly reducing friction and thereby impairing braking performance. Experts emphasized that drivers should strictly control their speed when entering such garages in rainy conditions and avoid sudden acceleration, abrupt braking, or sharp steering maneuvers to minimize the risk of losing control.
