An Idaho self-service auto dismantler recently drew widespread attention due to a Plymouth Arrow pickup truck parked among numerous older vehicles. The truck stood out starkly from its surroundings—its clean, light-colored exterior and prominent “Plymouth” badge at the rear contrasting sharply with the weathered cars around it. The Plymouth Arrow typically refers to a compact two-door hatchback sold in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Built by Mitsubishi and marketed in the U.S. under Chrysler’s Plymouth brand, it was introduced to compete against Japanese compact cars of the era. Separately, the “Arrow” name was also used for a compact pickup truck—a distinct model that shared only the name with the hatchback. Most Arrow pickups were equipped with basic four-cylinder engines, had limited production runs, and were discontinued in the early 1980s. Today, they maintain a niche following among collectors. After a video of the truck surfaced online, it quickly went viral, amassing over 220,000 views and nearly 400 comments. Many viewers expressed confusion over why such a well-preserved Arrow pickup ended up in a junkyard, questioning why it was scrapped. Speculation ranged from heirs having no interest in keeping it to the possibility that it had been seized and subsequently funneled into the salvage market. Some commenters said they would have bought the entire vehicle on the spot if they’d been there, while others noted that parts like headlights and wheel covers are relatively rare and hold collectible or resale value. As of now, the salvage yard has not issued an official statement regarding the matter.
