Volvo Cars held its 99th anniversary celebration and new product launch event at the China National Convention Center in Beijing, officially opening pre-sales for two new all-electric flagship models built on the SPA2 native luxury electric architecture—the ES90 and EX90. The ES90 is priced between RMB 429,900 and RMB 499,900, while the EX90 ranges from RMB 539,900 to RMB 609,900. Both models break free from the constraints of traditional internal combustion engine layouts, optimizing battery safety protection and cabin space utilization. The ES90 emphasizes a “mobile Nordic living room” design concept, while the EX90 retains the iconic flagship SUV silhouette and features an interactive mechanical “winking” lighting signature. On the same day, Volvo launched the XC70 99th Anniversary Edition, available in Core and Plus trims with limited-time exclusive prices of RMB 249,900 and RMB 269,900, respectively. The XC70 comes standard across all variants with 21 active safety features, a high-strength cage-type body structure, and introduces an “electric-sense safety” design in its hybrid powertrain. Its battery system offers ultra-fast disconnection within 50 milliseconds and multi-layer physical protection barriers. The launch also includes a suite of purchase benefits, such as lifetime complimentary maintenance, extended warranty coverage for the battery, motor, and electronics (the “three electric systems”), and free vehicle pick-up and delivery services. Buyers of the XC70 Anniversary Edition are further eligible for trade-in or additional-purchase subsidies and exclusive financing options.
