In Q2 2026, domestic sedans (excluding imported vehicles) recorded 23,183 valid quality-related complaints, against sales of approximately 1.803 million units covering 225 models. This yields an industry-average complaint-to-sales ratio of 128.6 per 10,000 vehicles—significantly higher than in Q1, indicating a continued deterioration in overall quality performance. Among these, 64 models sold more than the average of 8,014 units during the quarter and were classified as best-selling sedans. Of these, 57 models posted complaint-to-sales ratios better than the industry average, reflecting relatively stronger quality reputations. Although sedan sales rose by 4.6% quarter-over-quarter, the growth rate of complaints far outpaced sales growth, driving the complaint-to-sales ratio to climb sharply for the second consecutive quarter. By segment, compact cars saw complaints surge by 65.7% quarter-over-quarter, surpassing 10,000 cases; micro and midsize cars also experienced complaint increases exceeding 50% each. Both compact and midsize segments posted complaint-to-sales ratios above the industry average, dragging down overall quality metrics. Full-size cars ended their "zero-complaint" status, with their complaint-to-sales ratio rising from zero; while large premium sedans saw a quarter-over-quarter decline, their ratio remained elevated. By brand origin, Chinese自主品牌 brands increased their share of complaints by 2.4 percentage points quarter-over-quarter, with more models appearing on the list; U.S. brands’ share declined by 1.8 percentage points, reflecting weak performance. Among specific models, BYD and Geely each had eight models on the ranking list, tying for first place. Geely placed three models in the top ten. The Chery QQ3 EV ranked first, while FAW-Volkswagen’s Jetta VA3 debuted on the list at second place—the only joint-venture model in the top ten. Xiaomi SU7 re-entered the top ten with a notably reduced complaint-to-sales ratio, and MG4 made its first appearance in the top ten. Some models showed deteriorating quality performance: Tesla Model 3 dropped from 4th to 21st; Hongqi H5 plummeted in ranking as its complaint-to-sales ratio doubled due to a surge in complaints and falling sales. Seven models from traditional luxury brands appeared on the list—down one from last quarter—with most rankings declining. FAW Audi A5L ranked mid-table, the best performer among luxury brands; FAW Audi had three models listed, while Beijing Benz and BMW Brilliance each contributed two.
