China has officially released two mandatory national standards for Level 2 (L2) combined driving assistance systems. Among them, GB 47955–2026 will take effect on January 1, 2027, marking the first mandatory regulation specifically governing L2 driver assistance products. The other standard, GB 39901–2025, will be implemented on January 1, 2028. Developed under the leadership of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), these standards were jointly formulated by nearly 40 automakers and technology companies. They cover key aspects including product development, hardware configuration, marketing claims, and data retention, and have been integrated into the vehicle type approval system. Starting from the implementation dates, all relevant technologies and promotional activities must comply with these regulatory requirements; non-compliance will constitute a legal violation.
