On January 21, BYD launched the 2026 Qin PLUS DM-i and Qin L DM-i, with a starting price of RMB 79,800. Both models are equipped across the board with BYD’s fifth-generation DM-i hybrid system, featuring a 1.5L engine delivering a maximum output of 74 kW and an electric motor available in two power outputs—120 kW or 160 kW. The NEDC fuel consumption in battery-depleted mode is as low as 2.79 L/100 km. Both vehicles now offer a new CLTC all-electric range variant of 210 km (equipped with a 25.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery), while the entry-level version offers 128 km—the longest pure-electric range among plug-in hybrid sedans in its class. The Qin PLUS DM-i retains its original exterior design but adds three new body colors and replaces the conventional gear selector with an electronic shift-by-wire system. The Qin L DM-i receives upgrades including a head-up display and an onboard refrigerated/warm storage box; the top trim further features BYD’s Yunniu-C intelligent damping control system and TBC (Tire Blow-out Control) technology for enhanced stability during tire failure. All variants qualify for China’s new-energy vehicle purchase tax exemption. Within the first week of launch, combined orders reached 15,698 units.
