Tesla Model Y and Model 3 Sales Dip in Europe but Remain Top Sellers

Despite year-over-year declines in sales, the Tesla Model Y and Model 3 remained among Europe’s best-selling electric vehicles in 2023. According to foreign media citing data, the Model Y recorded 149,805 new registrations in Europe last year, down 28% year-over-year, while the Model 3 saw 85,393 registrations, a 24% decline. As a result, Tesla’s total European sales for the year fell to 236,357 units, down 27% compared to the previous year. Nevertheless, the Model Y retained its position as Europe’s top-selling electric vehicle, while the Model 3 ranked third, behind the Skoda Elroq (93,870 units). Notably, the Volkswagen Group sold 274,278 electric vehicles in Europe last year, a 56% year-over-year increase, surpassing Tesla.
