On August 16, 2023, Tesla announced via its official Weibo account the launch of a six-seat version of the Model Y (Model Y L), which became available for sale in the Chinese market on August 19 and began official deliveries on September 2. According to reports, the model achieved significant delivery volumes in its first week, with approximately 900 units delivered by September 7—averaging over 100 units per day. Additionally, sources indicate that monthly deliveries in China surpassed 10,000 units in November 2023. Following large-scale deliveries in China, Tesla gradually rolled out the Model Y L to other international markets. At the end of February 2024, the vehicle received approval for sale in Australia and appeared there in March. Sales commenced in New Zealand in mid-March. The Model Y L was also launched in Singapore in March. By April, the model had expanded to South Korea, Japan, and Malaysia, with displays already underway in retail stores across these countries. According to foreign media reports, the Model Y L began appearing in South Korean showrooms in early April, with a starting price of approximately KRW 64.99 million (around USD 43,000), eligible for government subsidies. In Japan, the vehicle has been on display in stores since April 3, with an official sales launch expected after a period of exhibition.
