Tesla announced on May 21 that its Supervised Full Self-Driving (FSD) feature is now available in markets including the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, the Netherlands, and Lithuania. However, according to sources close to Tesla, the feature is currently undergoing only limited, small-scale gray-release testing in China and has not yet been officially rolled out to the general public. Previously, Tesla conducted a gray release of Supervised FSD on approximately 5,000 vehicles in the Chinese market; however, this deployment was restricted to pushing configurations to a small number of servers for testing and validation purposes, without storing any data in databases, making it purely experimental. Meanwhile, Tesla has recently been hiring on-road autonomous driving test technicians in multiple locations across China. Under standard procedures, data collected from these tests must be submitted to China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for review and approval before the feature can be officially released to vehicle owners.
