Recently, Yokohama Rubber has fully deployed a generative AI system developed in-house. Utilizing retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) technology, the system can search internal technical documents and generate responses based on their content, helping R&D personnel retrieve technical information needed for decision-making in tire and materials development. This new system is designed to enhance the practical application of HAICoLab, Yokohama Rubber’s proprietary AI framework launched in October 2020. HAICoLab leverages the company’s own data and knowledge to iteratively refine AI capabilities, assisting researchers in hypothesis formulation and helping developers interpret and evaluate AI-generated results. Previously, Yokohama Rubber has developed multiple AI systems capable of predicting the physical properties of rubber compounds and tire characteristics, generating novel rubber formulations, and supporting mold design. The company is currently deepening the integration of data into key processes such as materials development and tire design.
