According to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), Bitauto released its ranking of the top 20 best-selling new energy vehicle (NEV) models for 2025 on January 14. Geely’s Galaxy E5 topped the list with retail sales of 465,800 units, followed by the Wuling Hongguang MINIEV and the Tesla Model Y in second and third places, respectively. BYD emerged as the biggest winner, with nine of its models making the list—specifically, the Qin PLUS, Seagull, and Qin L ranked fourth through sixth. Xiaomi’s SU7 secured seventh place with 258,200 units sold, highlighting the rising momentum of new NEV entrants. Among the top ten, only two models were from Tesla; all others were domestic brands. Overall, domestically produced NEVs dominate the market, leaving foreign brands facing intense competition.
