Ms. Zhang, a car owner from Inner Mongolia, recently contacted the automotive blogger "Auto 365 Hotline," reporting that her newly purchased Smart #5 electric vehicle delivers significantly less range than the officially advertised 740 kilometers—achieving only about 240 kilometers in real-world driving. She conducted two tests under temperatures above 0°C, during which the battery dropped from 100% to 42% while covering just approximately 110 kilometers. Ms. Zhang noted that many fellow owners in her car owners’ group have encountered similar issues. After raising the issue with her local dealership, she felt her concerns were dismissed; staff merely glanced at photos of her vehicle’s data without further investigation. Due to the severe impact on her daily use, Ms. Zhang is now demanding either a repair or a replacement vehicle. In response, Smart’s customer service stated they had not previously received similar complaints and have scheduled her for an inspection at the dealership this Sunday, with technical specialists from the manufacturer dispatched to provide one-on-one support.
