In 2025, Chinese automakers delivered strong performance in the European market, achieving total sales of 810,982 vehicles—a 99% year-over-year increase—and capturing a 6.1% market share, doubling their share from 2024. December alone saw sales reach 109,864 units, surging 126% year-over-year and marking the first time monthly sales surpassed the 100,000-unit milestone. This robust growth contributed to a 2.3% overall increase in Europe’s automotive market. Among Chinese brands, SAIC Motor’s MG led the pack with 307,282 units sold. BYD posted remarkable growth, selling 186,612 vehicles in 2025—an astonishing 276% year-over-year jump. Its key model, the midsize SUV Seal U, sold 79,407 units throughout the year, including 72,667 plug-in hybrid (PHEV) variants, making it the best-selling plug-in hybrid vehicle in Europe.
