Changan Automobile announced it will hold the "Tianshu Intelligent New Safety Achievements Launch and Global Sodium Battery Strategy Event" in Yakeshi on February 5, partnering with CATL to tackle winter electric vehicle (EV) driving challenges. The collaboration will highlight breakthroughs in sodium-ion battery applications under low-temperature conditions. CATL unveiled its first mass-produced sodium-ion battery brand, "Naxin," in April 2024 and plans to roll out the technology across battery-swapping stations, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, and energy storage systems by 2026. It is reported that Changan's Oshan models have already participated in public winter testing of sodium-ion batteries, with other automakers like GAC and JAC set to follow suit, accelerating the development of a dual-track new energy landscape powered by both sodium and lithium technologies—"a dazzling synergy of sodium and lithium."
