According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Tesla is actively advancing the development of Apple CarPlay and plans to implement a unique "windowed" integration approach. Unlike traditional automakers that let CarPlay take over the entire screen, Tesla will run CarPlay in approximately the right two-thirds of the display, showing Apple Maps, music, and third-party apps, while reserving the left one-third of the screen and the bottom navigation bar for its native system to continuously display critical driving information such as vehicle speed, battery level, climate controls, and Autopilot/FSD status. Additionally, the feature will support wireless connectivity, allowing users’ iPhones to connect automatically upon entering the vehicle—no cable required. This approach aims to balance seamless smartphone ecosystem integration with driving safety.
