On February 6, Toyota Motor Corporation announced a major leadership reshuffle: current Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Kenta Kon will assume the role of CEO effective April 1, 2026. Incumbent CEO Koji Sato will transition to Vice Chairman and take on the newly created position of Chief Industrial Officer. Sato has served as CEO since April 2023, a tenure of less than two years. Toyota stated that, in the face of severe industry challenges, the company urgently needs to strengthen industrial collaboration and global competitiveness, with its top priority being the enhancement of profitability. Kon, who brings extensive experience in optimizing profit structures and cross-functional management, is seen as well-positioned to effectively drive company-wide reforms from a holistic value-chain perspective.
