Since its launch in 2011, the Mazda CX-5 has surpassed 5 million units in cumulative global production, becoming the third model in Mazda’s history to reach this milestone—trailing only the 323 and Mazda3. The CX-5 made its global debut at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and became Japan’s best-selling crossover the following year. Its U.S. sales peaked in 2021 with 168,383 units sold; in 2025, it recorded sales of 136,335 units, up 1.7% year-over-year. The all-new third-generation CX-5 will go on sale early this year, featuring a 4.5-inch longer body and a correspondingly extended wheelbase. The interior adopts a large-screen layout with no physical buttons, and it continues to be powered by a 187-horsepower 2.5-liter engine. A hybrid version is scheduled for launch in 2027. Mazda expressed gratitude to customers worldwide for their longstanding support of the CX-5.
