Xiaomi Auto recently conducted ice and snow handling and stability tests in Hailar, Inner Mongolia, at temperatures as low as -39°C, using its new SU7 Max model equipped with winter tires to comprehensively validate the vehicle’s handling and safety performance in extreme cold conditions. In response to public questions about why the emergency obstacle-avoidance speed was set at 55 km/h, Xiaomi explained that this setting follows the international standard ISO 3888-2 (the "moose test"), which effectively demonstrates a vehicle’s ability to avoid sudden obstacles. During testing, the SU7 maintained stability across complex scenarios—including icy surfaces, mixed road conditions, consecutive corners, and “jumping hills”—and successfully completed maneuvers such as emergency braking from 75 km/h and precise obstacle avoidance. The vehicle is equipped with advanced technologies including Bosch dTCS, ESP 10.0, VDC 2.0, and dual-motor all-wheel drive, enabling millisecond-level response times and precise control. Xiaomi reminds users to install compliant winter tires and activate the “Slippery Road Mode” during winter months to enhance safety. However, the company notes that driver-assistance features will be temporarily disabled in this mode, requiring drivers to remain fully attentive.
