Mercedes-AMG is accelerating its push into the high-performance electric vehicle segment, planning to launch a new all-electric SUV in 2027 with a maximum output expected to exceed 1,000 horsepower. The vehicle will be developed on AMG.EA, a dedicated high-performance EV platform built specifically for AMG, and will be offered in both standard and coupe SUV body styles. Rumors suggest its powertrain will adopt a three-motor layout inspired by the GT XX concept car, paired with an 800-volt electrical architecture and direct-cooled cylindrical battery cells to enable ultra-fast charging. Although its actual horsepower may fall slightly short of the GT XX concept’s 1,340 hp, its performance is still highly anticipated. Given that SUVs already account for more than half of Mercedes-Benz’s global sales, this move by AMG aims to meet growing market demand for high-power, premium-priced electric SUVs.
