On February 9, Pony.ai’s first mass-produced BotZhi 4X Robotaxi rolled off the production line, marking a new phase of scaled manufacturing in its collaboration with Toyota China and GAC Toyota. The vehicle, co-developed by GAC Toyota and Pony.ai, is equipped with Pony.ai’s seventh-generation autonomous driving system, incorporating the company’s extensive experience operating in complex urban environments such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenzhen, and optimized specifically for commercial deployment scenarios. The joint venture established by the three parties plans to deploy over 1,000 BotZhi 4X Robotaxis by 2026 to launch commercial operations in China’s tier-one cities, offering users safe and convenient autonomous mobility services. Since 2019, the partners have launched multiple Robotaxi models based on Toyota platforms and established a joint venture dedicated to the design, production, and operation of autonomous vehicles.
