Audi is accelerating the digital transformation of its plants and the application of artificial intelligence. Gerd Walker, Board Member for Production and Logistics, stated that although the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) project has experienced delays, the company’s digitalization efforts are progressing faster than expected. Audi plans to complete the electrification conversion of all its factories by 2030. Its Ingolstadt plant in Germany has already successfully launched production of the Q6 e-tron and A6 e-tron models. Currently, Audi is developing around 100 AI use cases, with one-quarter already implemented—spanning areas such as production planning and logistics optimization. The Audi C concept vehicle is serving as a test case for AI-driven and digitalized production, and preparations for its series production will begin at the Neckarsulm plant by the end of 2025. Audi will invest €8 billion in its German manufacturing sites, primarily to upgrade electric vehicle production facilities and infrastructure, while also supporting cooperative Q3 production in Hungary. Additionally, the company is evaluating the possibility of building a plant in the United States, emphasizing that any decision must align with its long-term market and product strategy. Audi’s digital ecosystem also collaborates with 43 Volkswagen Group plants and integrates real-time supply chain data through the “Group Tower” system.
