During the 2025 R’s Day event, a bizarre incident occurred at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca: a telehandler—a telescopic boom forklift used for track cleanup—collided directly with a parked Nissan Skyline GT-R V-Spec (R34) during a red-flag suspension. The driver’s view was obstructed by tires, causing the vehicle to suffer catastrophic damage and rendering it beyond repair. Owner Artin Nazaryan stated the car was equipped with high-performance modifications, including an HKS 2.8L single-turbo engine and a sequential gearbox, and was valued at approximately $250,000. He initially attempted to settle the claim privately but was rebuffed by the track, which even accused him of improperly parking the vehicle. Nazaryan subsequently released video footage and details of the incident publicly, sparking widespread online support. He emphasized that his claim seeks only compensation for the vehicle’s loss—excluding any personal injury or punitive damages—and expressed willingness to cooperate on positive public relations efforts. However, as of now, the matter remains unresolved.
