Baidu and Uber recently announced they will officially launch an autonomous ride-hailing service in Dubai next month, marking Baidu's accelerated global expansion of its autonomous driving technology. The service will initially be available at designated locations in Dubai's Jumeirah area, allowing users to hail fully autonomous vehicles through the Uber app. Both companies stated that, depending on operational performance and local regulatory approvals, they plan to gradually expand the service across the entire city of Dubai. This marks the first time a Chinese tech company has deployed an autonomous mobility service in the Middle East and represents a significant step in the internationalization of Baidu's Apollo autonomous driving platform.
