U.S.-based tuner Renntech will produce a limited run of 12 fully reimagined replicas of the classic Mercedes-Benz SEC (1979–1991), dubbed the SEC 12 Widebody. Each vehicle is built to order and powered by a 7.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 engine sourced from the Pagani Zonda and Mercedes-Benz CLK GTR, producing 660 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque, paired with a bespoke manual transmission. The all-aluminum engine features equal-length exhaust manifolds, while the braking system has been upgraded to carbon-ceramic discs hidden behind forged two-piece wheels. The exterior sports an entirely new widebody kit, enhancing aerodynamics, cooling, and high-speed stability. The project includes a complete, ground-up restoration of each car. Notably, the original SEC was never offered with a V12 option—making this transformation a truly radical homage. The first example is scheduled for delivery in December 2027.
