Stellantis recently submitted a statement to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), issuing a "do not drive" safety warning for approximately 225,000 unrepaired U.S.-market vehicles. The affected models include various Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles, such as the 2003–2010 Dodge Ram, 2005–2015 Chrysler 300, and 2007–2016 Jeep Wrangler. These vehicles are equipped with high-risk Takata airbags that can rupture and eject metal fragments under conditions of high temperature and humidity, a defect linked to 28 fatalities. Stellantis stated it has already replaced 95% of the defective airbags but emphasized that most of the remaining unrepaired vehicles are older models, urging owners to immediately stop driving them and schedule free repairs. NHTSA advises vehicle owners to check their Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) on its official website to determine if their vehicle is included in the recall; all related repairs are free of charge and have no expiration date.
