David Blenke, a rideshare driver in California, has driven his 2022 Ford Mustang Mach-E Long Range for nearly four years, accumulating over 508,500 kilometers (approximately 316,000 miles). Remarkably, his vehicle’s battery has degraded by only 8%, retaining a current range of about 482 kilometers (300 miles). According to Blenke, the car has never experienced any mechanical failures. Over this period, he has replaced only six sets of tires and seven cabin air filters, while adhering to regular maintenance schedules. Thanks to the regenerative braking system, the original brake pads have never needed replacement. Blenke shared his battery-care tips: charging nightly to 90% using a Level 2 charger, avoiding letting the state of charge drop below 20%, routinely using the “Whisper” energy-saving driving mode, and supplementing with public DC fast-charging networks when needed. His battery health remains an impressive 92%—significantly higher than the average 80% typically seen in electric vehicles with similar mileage.
