Recently, the environmental and human rights coalition "Lead the Charge" released its latest global ranking of automakers' green supply chains. Tesla retained its top position with a composite score of 49%, followed closely by Ford (45%) and Volvo Cars (44%). The assessment evaluated over 80 indicators, focusing on two key dimensions: "fossil-free supply chains" and "human rights protection," emphasizing concrete actions over mere pledges. Volvo stood out for its progress in supply chain decarbonization and material recycling, while Ford led in responsible sourcing and its closed-loop aluminum system. Tesla maintained its advantage through continuous technological iteration. The ranking aligns with new regulations such as the EU’s Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive, underscoring that green supply chains have become critical for both regulatory compliance and competitive differentiation in the automotive industry. Chinese automakers, including Geely and BYD, are also accelerating their efforts to catch up. Going forward, green transformation will not only meet policy requirements but also shape brand differentiation and business value.
