Ford initiated two large-scale recalls in the United States on March 6, affecting approximately 1.74 million vehicles due to issues with the rearview camera display. About 850,000 vehicles—including 2021–2024 Edge models and 2021–2026 Bronco models—are affected by overheating of the infotainment system’s core module (APIM), which could cause the center display to go black. Another approximately 890,000 vehicles—including 2020–2022 Escape and Lincoln Corsair models, as well as 2020–2024 Explorer and Lincoln Aviator models—may experience an inverted rearview camera image when the vehicle is quickly restarted after being turned off. Both issues could compromise backing-up safety. Ford stated that the problems will be resolved through software updates, with some vehicles eligible for over-the-air (OTA) updates and others requiring a visit to a dealership. Affected owners will begin receiving notifications starting late March or April. The repair solutions are expected to roll out soon for the first group and by the second quarter of 2026 for the second.
