Recently, a Lexus resembling a "shipping parcel" has drawn attention on social media. The rear of the vehicle is almost entirely wrapped in black plastic sheeting and copious amounts of tape, making it look more like it had just been unloaded from a shipping pallet than a drivable car. Thesky Marcelin, a mobile mechanic based in Atlanta, joked after seeing the video: "If it runs, I’ll buy it!" He added that if the car is in decent mechanical condition, he’d be willing to pay between $1,000 and $1,500 for it. Marcelin emphasized that although the car’s appearance is appalling, as long as the engine works and it can serve as basic transportation, it’s still better than walking for some people. However, from a legal standpoint, caution is needed: if the tape-based "repair" compromises lighting, license plate visibility, driver visibility, or structural safety, the vehicle could be deemed illegal for road use. Whether this particular car complies with regulations ultimately depends on whether its functionality has been impaired.
