After lagging behind China and the United States in AI and electric vehicles, Europe is now eyeing humanoid robots as a critical breakthrough. Sweden’s Hexagon has unveiled its Aeon humanoid robot, which is undergoing testing at BMW factories and is slated for commercialization by 2026. Germany’s Neura Robotics has secured €1 billion in funding and launched the 4NE1 robot, capable of carrying loads up to 100 kilograms. Automotive suppliers like Bosch and Schaeffler are also entering the field, viewing humanoid robotics as a new growth engine. Leveraging their strengths in precision manufacturing and industrial automation, European companies aim to deeply integrate robotic technologies into automotive production lines. Despite challenges such as technological maturity, high costs, and China’s rapid rise in the sector, Europe is determined not to be left behind this time, striving to secure a foothold in this trillion-dollar industry.
