As of April 2, 2026, Toyota has issued nine recalls in 2026, affecting a total of 1,024,794 vehicles. The largest recall involved 550,000 Highlander SUVs due to a risk that the second-row adjustable seats might not lock properly after being repositioned. The smallest recall did not involve entire vehicles but rather 79 headlamps that failed to meet U.S. market standards and could have been incorrectly installed on bZ4X electric vehicles. Additionally, Toyota has issued two other recalls this year each affecting more than 100,000 vehicles: one involving 2024–2025 Tundra pickup trucks due to potential failure of the rearview camera image to display, and another affecting approximately 150,000 Prius models over a risk of rear doors opening unexpectedly. By number of recalls, Toyota ranked third in the first three months of 2026, behind General Motors and Ford Motor Company; by total number of vehicles recalled, Toyota fell between the two automakers. During the same period, Ford recalled nearly 7.5 million vehicles.
