XPeng has terminated the exclusive dealership rights of TrueEV, its former sole distributor in Australia. This follows TrueEV entering into administration. XPeng stated that over the past two years of cooperation, it learned through multiple channels that TrueEV had suffered a cash flow breakdown, resulting in its takeover by financiers, and had failed to place any vehicle orders for over a year or fulfill existing order obligations—including commitments for 544 vehicles. Additionally, TrueEV engaged in public commercial disputes with other local dealers, severely undermining the mutual trust essential to their partnership. In accordance with the terms of their agreement, XPeng has formally issued a notice of default to TrueEV, terminating its exclusive dealership status, though TrueEV retains non-exclusive distribution rights. TrueEV denies the existence of the aforementioned operational issues and has filed legal claims against XPeng. However, an Australian court rejected TrueEV’s application for an injunction on April 1. XPeng is now accelerating the development of its sales and service network in Australia, prioritizing partnerships with established local dealers who emphasize customer experience. The company also plans to implement localized parts supply, logistics distribution, and technical support systems. XPeng aims to position itself as a trusted technology brand—both technologically advanced and user-centric—within the next three years. Public records indicate that TrueEV was appointed as XPeng’s sole importer, distributor, and retailer in Australia in May 2024, commencing vehicle deliveries in August of the same year. TrueEV had previously announced plans in late 2023 to introduce models such as the G6, G9L, and X9 in 2024, but as of now, pricing and specifications for these models have not been disclosed.
