Xiaomi Auto announced that the new-generation SU7 comes standard across all trims with a 1,500 MPa anti-scrape underbody crossbeam positioned ahead of the traction battery pack and mounted lower than the battery itself. This design helps push away road debris such as stones during driving, thereby reducing the risk of battery damage. The battery pack features physical protective structures on its top, sides, and bottom. The underbody protection system comprises three lines of defense: - The first line is the 1,500 MPa anti-scrape underbody crossbeam at the front of the chassis, which makes initial contact with and deflects road obstacles. - The second line consists of a frame beam at the front edge of the battery pack, designed to absorb impact energy during collisions. - The third line is a “bulletproof coating” applied to the bottom of the battery pack—the same material used on the SU7 Ultra—which offers exceptional resistance to scratches and punctures. Additionally, the top of the battery pack is reinforced with a 2,000 MPa floor crossbeam and a 1,500 MPa seat crossbeam. On the sides, protection is enhanced by perimeter frame beams combined with extra-wide, nine-cell threshold beams, collectively improving battery protection during side impacts. Compared to conventional materials, this “bulletproof coating” delivers more than a tenfold improvement in tear resistance, puncture resistance, scratch resistance, and adhesion. It also exhibits outstanding corrosion resistance against most acidic, alkaline, and saline solutions. The entire battery pack undergoes rigorous testing—including salt spray tests—to validate its corrosion resistance performance.
